  1. Such a fantastic, comprehensive test!! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. Great help for deciding what tool is better.
  2. I can understand the improvement with the 35mm because it matches closer to the size of the port on the saw. At 50mm you still can only pull so much air through the 35mm dust port.
  3. Definitely glad you are getting better results with yours. I do like it, just haven't had great results outdoors with it. You are correct that lasers aren't much better in sunlight either.
  4. I think this test was good but like others have stated, some things should have been done to keep the results a little more scientific. The 35mm hose is a must. I haven't tried the 50mm. Does it make a big difference Chris? Regardless I was impressed with the collection of the 717!
  5. Hey Chris, A 4" round sheet metal pipe is a bit undersized for what the filter can output on high. 6" would be better if you have that option. Here is a quick reference for different duct sizing and cfm ratings. http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/equivalent-diameter-d_443.html
  6. The kerf light is great indoors but not visible outside. You can make very accurate cuts without a lot of line creeping. A good vac hooked to it does ok for dust collection. I like the look of the 717 also but never tried one.
  7. It has to be a balance of your budget, cut needs/capacity, weight, & dust collection. I have heard really good things about the Bosch Axial glide. They have a 10" available. Complaints I have heard with those saws are they are HEAVY! Dust collection can be improved actually by snapping on a Kapex dust boot onto the Bosch. I own the Dewalt 718 (older 780) and it was a great saw for me for years. Weight was ok. Cut quality was decent but the rails can deflect pretty easy at full extension. If you don't need huge cross cut capacity ditch the slider and do a great dual bevel regular miter saw. I also own the Kapex and it does excell in all features...but as Chris said...it should! Do you have any specific models you are looking at?
  8. Yeah that ToolNut pricing was messed up. The price of this guy is way better than the Bosch. I want to see a head to head before I buy either one.
  9. I don't have the Grizzly but have an identical re-branded unit. They sell this unit under the ShopFox brand on Amazon and the Performax brand @ Menards. We take it on site during remodels and run it all day to help reduce the dust in clients homes. It does very well. At that price its almost worth getting a second one. I found a place online that makes custom filters. I can get a re-usable, washable filter made for about 20 bucks. If I do that I will report how it does.
  10. Fantastic!! I was hoping for a picture somewhere. Thanks Mr. Yellow!! I hope the reception is better than older models.
  11. Thanks guys! Yeah I am on FOG, CT, and BeThePro. I get kinda burned out so glad to find some new info and another place to bounce ideas.
  12. That is great news. I want to add a Colt sized router. I really like the look of the DeWalt but I like the Bosch routers. Hopefully they will add some dust collection and led lights.
  13. The bluetooth and USB charging will be great features!!
  14. This is a Mafell product. They took away some features from their saw for the Bosch version. Bosch rails/tracks are what Mafell uses. Still a great looking saw. I hope it comes to NA someday just for the competition!
  15. This is a great sds. Very fast and light! I prefer the grip of the DeWalt but have gotten used to the Bosch.
  16. I read a little write-up in this month's JLC about a new radio Dewalt is releasing this year!! I really want to see this thing!
  17. I would love to get my hands on one of these and put it through a head to head with my Bosch 18v brushless sds!
  18. I like the look of that Bosch...but it is interesting the DeWalt will have the collated add-on as well!! Both Brushless!!! I am so torn right now. I have all older Dewalt 18v tools and will need to upgrade soon....some many choices!
  19. Thanks!! We have really enjoyed working out of it. It doesn't take long to get something or put things away at the end of the day.
  20. I have used the Craftsman tool activated switch with my Dewalt 718 and a shop vac for awhile with no issues. They don't make it anymore but there are a few other alternatives out there.
  21. Here is a video I made of the inside that shows things a little better. We have tweaked a few things since this video but not much.
  22. Thanks Chris!! Of course there is green!! I don't discriminate!! lol! The drawer unit has been holding up fine. We use it for our main fastener storage. It is nice to not have to remove the Box to get at the screws.
  23. Hey guys! Joined here years ago but wasn't active. I thought I would share my van setup. We went with the ToughSystem because of it's durabilty and size. My partner and I re-did our van almost 2 years ago. Here are some photos.
  24. Very cool indeed! I wonder if other manufacturers will start to offer compressors in tool cases like this. The popularity of these and other tool box systems isn't fading.
