  1. Wen are you buying your drill press?
  2. Your crew is a lot faster than the one I'm with. haha. Our crew is an 8:00 to 4:00 5 days a week crew. We had a big remodel last year that took us a good 6 months or more to complete. We probably averaged 3 to 4 guys at it each day. We did have a couple other big jobs that took a while as well and various odd jobs that only take a day or 2 to complete.
  3. are professional tradesman allowed in harbor freight?
  4. powermatic makes a good drill press but its not benchtop.
  5. Is Chicago Electric a Harbor Freight brand?
  6. @Bremon soon to be more hybrid with the 60v corded adapter in the works.
  7. Well I spent the past couple weeks building a door to block access to sound and computer equipment from kids. It is a sliding/hinged combination I designed myself. I got to use my 790 miter saw, dcd996, dcf887, 20v multitool, right angle attachment, and various hand tools. Miter saw worked flawless and when paired with my dads shop vac the dust mess was minimal. Used it cordless and for the power it has it is quiet for a saw. I have yet to use the saw in corded mode because I haven't had the need yet. The door went underneath a counter which is a bit dark as expected so I used the 20 minute light on my 996 and it did a great job. Plenty of light to shine where I was working. It did a good job at drilling as well. I used my 887 as the main screw fastener and not a single screw broke even though it is an impact. The precision drive mode was extremely handy. I sanded the whole door with the multitool. It did a good job. Was handy in corners and tight spaces but an orbital would have been nice for the larger sections. I fastened the door to 2 full extension drawer slides. They are rated for 100 pounds. It is nice that the slides allow for the door to easily be removed if it were to need to come off. I joined the 2 panels together with some hinges and mortised them with my chisel into the panels. Might have been my first mortise. I don't have it finished or stained yet, but I am planning on rounding over the edges and staining tomorrow. If the stain is dry enough I may put a coat of finish on it. I apologize for the poor image quality. A layer of tape over the back of my iPhone 4 doesn't help but I gotta protect my hands from the cracked back glass. Slid out of my pocket the other day as I was getting out of my car and the phone touched the street.
  8. I thought he mentioned he didn't have to worry about it. Maybe even gave the humid climate as his reasoning.
  9. Least it wasn't what I had to smell today. Cleaned out a 50 something chevy today that my boss bought to restore. I'm told it has had mouse inside it at some point which includes using it as a toilet. The smell actually wasn't as bad a smell as I was expecting. A lot less bad smelling than if it were from a cat or dog.

    oops

ever seen the magic trick where the guy hold the bottle upside down with the cap ogg and it doesn't leak? I thought I remembered a screen was used to keep the water from leaking but I could be wrong.
  11. Jay claims it was the cheapest he could get. He mentioned this and if I remember correctly he said he wasn't going to ground it.
  12. I found out its called builders breakfast because it is put on by the store called Builders. Builders is similar to say a Lowes or Home Depot but is geared specifically to the pro.
  13. when you mentioned new batteries you were talking about the 2.0/6.0 and the 3.0/9.0 flexvolts that just came out?

    which thread?
  15. I'm sure DeWALT Insights is a start for some, youtube and other means of promoting tools is another, but a lot of it may just be connections. My boss is apart of countless groups (not necessarily construction related) and has over 200 custom houses of experience so that may be a big factor into how the guys get to go to builders breakfasts which is where I hear they get the insider info on new tools and sometimes tool demos. The big breakfast was a week or two ago. haven't had a chance to see how it was. Honestly I'm not sure sure why our crew gets the privilege of going to these because we aren't a big cordless crew yet. We are mostly still corded or pneumatic, apart from the usual drill and impact. I wonder if you gotta be a member of builders groups.
  16. Worked on drawing a house plan in Revit today for school. First floor is mostly complete. Just doing more interior work now. Did a lot with the kitchen this week and learned a lot about the program. I made sure to include a dedicated room for a shop cause TIA for life. Also did a purdy render of the unfinished kitchen. It took over an hour to complete. Looks almost real.
  17. Could give the homeless an apprenticeship? Then they can have a job to make money to buy tools which will increase tool sales in addition to giving to the toolless.
  18. I know guys at my work get hear about new tools and sometimes test out tools but not sure if its like how @Theultimatehic gets to test them.
  19. new batteries? You talking bluetooth flexvolt batteries?
  20. I got an idea for it. Make some sliding trays on the ends for storing your most used systainers. I think they call them sys ports. Could be useful for quick access to common tools or accessory storage.
  21. so its a 20v but comes with a flexvolt? what size of shanks does it accept?
  22. nice. Ever thought about designing you own. The ChrisK Workbench
