  1. I am looking at getting a decent #7 hand plane. Any suggestions? I ordered the DeWALT 20v brushless planner the other day for smoothing but I know it wont do justice when it comes to jointing edges.
  2. This lil'guy snuck under my radar. It's a new DeWALT entry level compact drill. It's essentially the same as the DCD780, DeWALT's entry level drill, except its now brushless and has design features of the other brushless DeWALT tools. Comes in a kit with 2 compact 1.5 amp/hr batteries and the slow 20v charger. There is also another kit that comes with the same items except a new impact is included. its like the DCF885 except has same design changes as the drill got. It also got the new chuck from the DCF887 impact driver. The impact is unavailable in its own kit and neither tools have a bare tool option at the moment. Was an interesting choice to go with 1.5 amp/hr pack since its a brushless tool. Also was interesting that the included charger is the slow charger. Neither is surprising considering this is intended to be a cheaper DeWALT kit.
  3. @CATERPILLAR can I consider my omt I just ordered a grinder? Grout blades and grinder blades both have abrasive on them and they grind away at material.
  4. I ordered the planner today hopefully it doesn't come with this issue haha. I haven't even seen that vac until I got the same email. is it any good?
  5. I'd go Milwaukee. You already got red and the saw has more functionality than the Dewalt. It may not have the expected Milwaukee quality but is still worth it if your invested in Milwaukee.
  6. depends on what kind of planner your talking. if you talking about an electric hand panner then I would recommend the dewalt 20v brushless panner. If your talking a thickness planner then I would go with what @ChrisK suggested. If you are wanting a manual planner then you should get both a number 7 for jointing and a number 4 for smoothing.
  7. I just clean my tools every once so often and hope I don't have to open them up.
  8. when I was asked what I wanted for Christmas I gave model numbers. figured would be easier for family.
  9. did you make sure the packs were in the charger correctly? Sometimes if they aren't pushed in all the way the light will blink then go solid.
  10. never seen a handle clamp that is hinged. Also appears to be metal which is nice.

    Dewalt 9ah

    theres a compact 3.0 m12 coming out
  12. all you gotta say is get anything yellow or blue because they know your a red guy haha
  13. Heres an idea. fan cooled. has 6 bays. can either do 2 batteries at a time at 4 amp each or one at 8 amp. also has smart charging like the 40v 6 bay.
  14. replace the kits with 1.5's with the 2.0's. replace the kits with 2.0's with new compact 3.0's. replace the kits with 3.0's with the 4.0's. replace the kits with 4.0's with 5.0's. replace the kits with 5.0's with 6.0's.
  15. @Milwaukee walt the one key app requires a certain bluetooth version or higher. I think its version 4.0. Sounds like you have a supported phone might be a defective tool or defective phone? I suggest setting up each of your settings on your one key tools with options that best suit your needs. Maybe you have a 100% performance mode, drywall mode, sheet metal mode, and precision mode or whatever applications you use your tools for. Then you wouldn't have to mess with the app again. If your needs change you can set your presets again and continue to forget about the app. Might be the best option?
  16. If you take the question literally then my only option is Milwaukee blades but because any recip is included with the term "sawzall" I have other options. It just so happens of the blades I have used Milwaukee has been the best. I have yet to do extensive work with my Lenox blades so I can't include them in my options.
  17. all the way to the opposite wall except the bulb life is terrible. once it hits the wall the light is out for good.
  18. I really like the compact packs. 3.0 compacts would be really nice except I haven't had a 2.0 run out in one day of use. haha
  19. but it uses bigger cells than what Milwaukee uses.
  20. if you can wait a bit there might be a brushless 20v circular saw coming out. It might be worth the wait?

    New saw?

They specifically said 2 batteries were in the saw. They did not say one was at the side and one in the saw. We were telling them the Milwaukee only uses one battery in the saw and they kept saying this saw had 2 in it. Also at the builders breakfast the guys get extra information, test tools, etc. before they are unveiled to the public. The DeWALT rep is usually there and apparently Milwaukee had a rep come. I haven't been to a builders breakfast yet. Sounds like it would be fun. Last winter or spring was where the guys at work found out about the volt changing capabilities of the new flexvolt battery before it was unveiled in June.

    New saw?

I was talking about IF they came out with a higher voltage battery. I was not talking about 2 m18s equaling 54v. Think of the higher voltage battery as an m54 if you will.
