  1. As many of you guys might know. @Eric - TIA and @Dan - TIA are working on a new TIA shop/studio. They mentioned Friday Tool Fights might return. I hope they do. I enjoyed watching them back when Dan and Eric used to do them.
  2. I thought they were available too. Maybe they are for sale but just awaiting for new stock?
  3. Wow that doesn't sound good. People tend not to steal stuff that bad where I live but it is a lot different living in a small town (mine is 3kish people) vs a large city.
  4. I'm curious how you guys store bare tools or more specifically what do you guys store your tools corded/cordless in that do not come with their own storage.?Some just use the cardboard box the tool shipped in or leave the tool loose. Others buy some better storage like a tool bag/box or modular storage. I personally invest in Systainers and Tough System. They fit my needs and wants quite well. I am trying to phase out any other storage I have.
  5. @copperruby where you able to get your collet issue figured out?
  6. I have no idea. Maybe there is an electrician or another plumber with one you could try?
  7. @ChrisK how does the Flexiclick compare to your Festool counterparts?

    DS100 vs Ds150

@Cynan wow the 150 is is probably the better buy, apart from no clear lid. It is a bit stronger and has the lid compartment. In the united states the 100 is going for around $36 and the 150 for around $49
  9. Displaying the drill has lots of potential. You could build a fancy display case to put the drill in with a plaque saying "in memory of Dad" or "Dads drill" something like that. Might remind you of the good times you had using tools with your dad.
  10. I like the crown mold. kinda a low profile look
  11. @copperruby looks to me like there is a locking button for the collet. You will have to press and hold the locking button then turn the collet until the button presses in a little bit more. Your collet will be locked and you then will be able to loosen/tighten the collet. I have had tight bits before but sometimes if you unscrew the collet all the way off you will be able to insert the bit a bit easier. I think the bit might just have a tight fit. The collet should be a standard collet. Nothing fancy except the lock button which shouldn't affect how the bit is inserted.
  12. You can get same power as the higher voltage tools with lower voltage tools but they work harder. 18v tools are less efficient under load than higher voltage tools. More heat and more of the battery drained. Your 40v tools in theory should be less efficient than the 60v tools. I think the difference between the 40v chainsaw and the 60v chainsaw would be a bit of a wash but I could be wrong.

    Home Depot

this the gen 2 fuel high torque?
  14. Bought the DCS577 for $169 bare on toolup from their cyber monday part two deals. I have never bought from them before but I thought I would give them a try. They also have the flex 2/6 batteries for around $79. I did not buy though. Some decent deals still going on. https://www.toolup.com/promotions/cyber-monday-part-2
  15. no because you have to have the new Midi and the new bluetooth battery. The sander itself is not bluetooth just the battery. Your old cordless sander should work with the new batteries. There is no adapter available for the old Midi that I know of.

    Sockets

    I completed the survey.
  17. I feel like I avoid Harbor Freight like the plague. In all seriousness I have never been to one before. I don't know how good or bad Harbor Freights are. Sure I like saving money but If I need something I generally research my options then make a buying decision. Because I pick quality and notable/better known brands over price, Harbor Freight has not been considered. Could I find good products at Harbor Freight? sure but I do not want to take the chance.
  18. DeWALT may not have mechanics tools but Mac has them and Mac uses DeWALT batteries so the compatibility is there. DeWALT is getting better in the dedicated lighting department. One thing they tend to do is add a light on all the things (except the DCS577 and grinders which puzzles me). The drill and a couple other tools have the very bright 3 mode led now. The new inflator and the new heater have lights which I was not expecting.
  19. Bluetooth sander battery coming. So far confirmed for Europe but I wouldn't be surprised if it came to NA too. It even works with the new mini/midi vacs.
  20. I ordered a limited edition Festool branded blue Sys-2 for only $60. $20 cheaper than a grey Sys-2. I also bought a pair of Tough System DS Brackets. I thought having the option of a 4th set of brackets for the DS Carrier would be handy. Another thing I got was a TSO GRS-16 Sys-1 Foam Pac Insert Set. This set comes with a TSO branded sys-1 and foam inserts for both styles of guide rail squares. Finally I got a Sys-1 off Amazon for around $58 and to go with it I got a Kaizen Foam insert for my True Position Cabinet hardware jig.
  21. @mike_dave I like my DeWALT stuff. I have both 20v max and Flexvolt. Everything works as expected. I think you will be fine with DeWALT stuff. Out of curiosity is Makita stuff priced any better than Milwaukee in Canada? Makita has a bunch of woodworking stuff too. If the prices are better might be worth looking into? I don't know if the prices are as low as DeWALT though. Makita is priced higher than DeWALT in USA. I don't have much experience with Makita tools but I know they are some of the best tools around. Makita has many good circular saws and the impacts are supposedly pretty good. I also like their ope offerings as well.
  22. That is some good customer service. That is a big reason I like DeWALT. Anytime I have had an issue they have taken care of it. I have had 2 flex 2/6 batteries refuse to charge and was sent new ones no questions asked. I haven't had any flex tools refuse to power on though.
  23. @mike_dave What is it that you want to get that Milwaukee doesn't offer?
