  1. Interesting on the blade thing. I've the 1-3/4hp. I've not set my cartridge off (thank God) but good blades aren't cheap.
  2. Beautiful job Rich and that's awesome being able to teach your kids on it too!
  3. Those are the horizontal supports sandwiching a 2x4 for the new lumber rack. Super sturdy racks that way! The racks almost act as if they are mortised to fit onto the 2d4 upright then screwed in place.
  4. Hahahaha auto correct strikes again
  5. Lattes Hey.....I'm a renassaince kind of guy Then.....water. Then.....Coffee. Then.....Sam Adams Porch Rocker. Then.....Maine Root.
  6. Materials used for this one...8 2x4 kind dried white wood, 1 PT 12' and a third sheet of 3/4 plywood that's been sitting for a couple of years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Well, Will has been a little unwell this weekend and I was beat and didn't feel like pulling cars out of ditches and risking getting on the road so I took today off. Got some work done in the shop... I worked several tools today... Makita brushless barrel grip Makita XDT15 Dewalt DCF887 Dewalt DCN692 Sawstop CNS175TGP36 Festool MFT/3 Festool Kapex Festool TS55REQ I have to say, nothing beats the DCF887 for pure power. That Makita XDT impact gun is friggin awesome for fine to medium work. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Welcome to the forum dude. Never heard of them but I'm home today because my little boy isn't feeling so hot so figured I'd look into the saw. Which revealed nothing. Be mindful the brand gets really high reviews on Northern Tools website but this only has one, presumably because it's new. Also, no blade included though truthfully with few exceptions that's the first thing to go when. You get a new saw so depending on what you want your out $15 or more (Diablo, Forrest etc....$$-$$$$$$). Also this looks similar to the Hitachi slider mechanism which is a great slide in that it allows you to push this sucker right up to the wall which will save a LOT of room. One piece of advice....I don't know who you are or your plans but whatever they may be if you plan on taking it seriously, shop around and save coins if you want to buy something special. Don't fret the cash out. Though truthfully at face value, this looks like a well thought out homeowner saw with a 15amp motor and dual bevel so....the blade is where I'd put the money!
  9. That's true but when I wrote this FOUR years ago they didn't. Now? Look in my shop. No Milwaukee and tons of Dewalt.
  10. Ahhh go ya. I'm a huge green guy so it's hard to sound unbiased about the tools but really doing some research in the tools may help. The PDF is actually a pretty cool explaination of its use and quality
  11. http://www.festoolusa.com/media/pdf/Festool-TS55REQ-Supplemental-Manual.pdf Take a look at this
  12. Ahhh got ya! All metal shroud and spring load riving knife. Very very very durable. As far as the router, I have the adjustable bases for both my OF1400 and OF1010. Fully adjustable, they work really awesome.
  13. You're talking about the TS55REQ or the router? Or both?
  14. Oh Gawd yeah! I think he defended Quebec from the Americans during the Revolutionary War! His first car actually had REAL horse power! I jest of course....Comp is actually ageless. Kind of like mountains That's where all his experience comes from. He studied under Davinci I studied under Barnum and Bailey
  15. I've actually got a Festool one that requires you hold the blade out by the push trigger. I hate that friggin thing! One of my favorites is my Milwaukee switchback folder. Not a Big Red fan but that thing is awesome!
  16. Hey, to bad about the Porter Cable sanders AND the Passat guys. Looks like a bunch of bad luck all around the board. PC used to be ahead of the game in a lot of areas a while back and though they are hitting the DIY market with some really decent tools and thoughtful research, some of the tools haven't fared so well. Kind of like VW! My Father in Law has one of the emission vehicles and he's somewhat hot under the collar about that one. But once you have a penchant for all things Germanic you have to buy special tools when they go kaput but generally they are at the top of their game. Thankfully we all have a great place to vent about it. That's what makes this place so awesome. We've got guys like Trevor who are leading the way in school and a bright future to ancient old farts like Comp ( ) who have a world of experience from the Stone Age using rocks to beat in bone nails, to pre ancient farts like me who know how to talk the talk but not walk the walk
  17. Fantastic bro! Any reduction in blowout with these?
  18. Friggin awwwweeeeesssommmmmmmme!!!

It's a kinder genteler Age of Enlightenment. Pardon me sir, stop assaulting that poor store keep. Your being placed under arrest. Might I massage you?
  20. No, when you have the guys over to the shop and crack a beer, that oldie is going to be looking pretty stellar in your shop. I'm really liking the work thus far Rich, awesome job. No about Ford....
