  1. Ah, Dewalt....well being a framer for 30 plus years,,most framers use fat max .no 25' tapes allowed on the job ..of course a 30ft tape is minimum,,a 35ft tape is preferred ...can't square a normal wall with a 25ft tape...and no definitely not getting out the big 50 or 100 to sq a wall ,foundation yes.......no fat max or any other tape works well after being in the rain all day or all week, sand and water ..is your enemy....ya wipe em off,....in the real world if I watch a guy cleaning his tape 50 times a day in the rain...well bye bye.guy... . .....I bought 4 craftsmen 30ft tapes 30 years ago and never bought a new one untill about 5(?) years ago when craftsmen stopped replacing tapes for free....so ever since it's been Dewalt,,free replacement every 90 days....no tape will last framing outside ...so I trade in my damaged tapes for a brand new one ... . ...Dewalt 30' (19.99$) yellow fits right on my belt, not heavy, not too big,..is it the best ..No..is fat max? Maybe..Milwaukee? Their fine...other brands ,not really................feel free to send me any Dewalt tapes with a receipt and I'll go get a new one.....thanks...( just gotta be 30' lol).
  2. Nice, years behind but nice,,I can retire my Ryobi
  3. Never ever had a problem returning a Dewalt cordless tool within the three year warranty to Home Depot or acme...just swap out,,.realize your at 4 years so that says a lot for Milwaukee tools....it is a solid company,I just prefer Dewalt...
  4. I hear ya ...just hoping ...love to see a time when I carry just 1 or 2 batteries (mid size not jumbo) instead of dozens...but I do appreciate progress in the cordless tool world ..
  5. yup yup....the new brushless circ coming out...... looks nice
  6. Thanks @Jronman....I have too many 2/6.0 .flex .went a little nuts when that came out,,..that's a great price ..I like the 20v max 6ah better...I have a few of those....that's a good price on 5.0ah. I have way too many 5 ah ,, I love that battery...it's perfect... ,,ebay is a good place to find those..usually get a 2pack for 70-100$. just got more 3/9ah flex at acme think I paid 220 for 2 pack ,from some promo and discount...........that new 9.0 is damn amazing on a flex saw... . ...I hope Dewalt has a 12ah coming this year or finds a way to make batteries lighter with the same power....appreciate the info ,bro
  7. Dewalt Dewalt Dewalt.....that worm drive looks badass and I don't even like em, but I'll buy and try that one...looks like the battery goes on the bottom of the handle ,. Glad it's blade left and a rafter hook for those who like that set up,not me ,but a lot of guys looking for that . ...happy for them,finally..I assume it will be more powerful then the Flexvolt circ saw..? ....from what I've read the new 20v max XR circ saw is more powerful and higher rpm then the older 20v one too....
  8. Lower prices are always good......thanks
  9. Good for you @ChrisK .....when one door closes another always opens ,just never know what's on the other side,,,can be scary, but quite rewarding...no shame in failure only in not trying......I wish you the best in the trades when your out....Cabinets by ChrisK....leave the houses to me ,,,just kidding....love framing homes....love finish work ,just don't get to do much...way to busy......might have to make room for some Dewalt tools next to your Festool..lol
  10. Fire rescue ? I was a paramedic for years and did call fires and tried getting on a fire dept for 4 years, took the test got 98 three times and even tied a record for the obstacle course, full gear, dummy carry, swim, run 3miles....always waiting on a list but never get in, my bro was a cop for 28 years he said it's all family and who you know....great gig,2/ 24hr shifts and 5 off...I was gonna build decks 3 more days then take 2 off.....now I work 7 days a week,,. Life,go figure.....I digress.. . ...ya bro, love your set up and your passion for Festool,...if I go that route I'll call upon you to pick your brain, thanks...
  11. Dido....get a 2 pack of 5 ah on eBay for 70-100.... Amazon always has a 2pack of 5ah for 125-130....More POWA is always better except on a dcn660 finish gun.... .......best damn wrench though can't go wrong there..good choice...when you upgrade drills get a dcd791 absolutely the best
  12. C r e a t I v e.....anyone that loves tools and want to carry even more is a good egg in my book....welcome...and a Dewalt guy even better
  13. Bad ass @ChrisK...sweet set up ,love the multi drawer box and even pics of the tool in the box ? I like that..is that a medical kit box ? If so call Dewalt and demand one for me,will ya ,,you have clout...........Looks expensive , gotta love tools !!!! Thanks for the pic, appreciate it..
  14. Learn something everyday....thanks ...Festool,sustainer...it is definitely a very customer friendly system..compressor,vacuum,tools all in a box...love to be organized , maybe horizontal removable shelfs and thick vertical inserts for the tough boxes..it's very inexpensive but quite handy to have your tools separated in those bigger boxes..instead of a big pile on the bottom.......... . ..like a Dewalt vacuum instead of putting your attachments around the vac, just have a small tough box on top to hold everything ...like Festool does...
  15. Probably the best ,toughest boxes out there...
  16. That's great news.....and cutting iron isn't fun...never hard of that Milwaukee blade sounds perfect...
  17. Silly silly silly....why even buy Flexvolt,it's all marketing? 60 v (54v) over 18v Milwaukee pure crap..just ask Milwaukee., they will tell you , .it's all gimmick, smoke and mirrors...numbers...perfect conditions when used...thin kerf ..air vents,gimmick......a motor is a motor....a blade is a blade.... .......all sounds good except.....When you actually cut real wood, lvl, ipe, put, oak,For A Living Everyday..........ya 60v Matters,ya Blades Matter...Real World Results ....It is about money...My/Our companies making money...if it wasn't true,if it didn't work ,,we wouldn't spend the money on it......... . ..Now Milwaukees Inksall marker I bought ,,writes on oily, frozen, wet surfaces ...I got a problem with., that's a gimmick!! ....lol
  18. Interesting.....the only issue I have with flex ,is the dcn692 nailer/battery connection is a tight fit. ,,but others have commented on that and I've used many different ones so it's a manufactured thing,,no big deal..., we have flex sawzall at work ,I didn't notice any push button/battery difficulty........for decks I use the dcs367b new 20v max xr....I know most don't like it (vibrations) but I love it... ........Other then that battery issue ,how do you like the sawzall @Jronman..?
  19. Interesting....thanks, I think like their systainers they look to be a nice tools but more for shop use
  20. Thanks for input guys....I appreciate it...hate using big ass tools if I don't need to, .and gotta be cordless...let you how it works out ..thanks
  21. Right now I use a giant ,heavy ,old Makita 1 1/2"( I think) it's a corded beast...but it's dying,so I'd rather go cordless now...plus it's over kill I think, with these newer cordless powerful ones ...it's a little outta my expertise deciding being a framer.... . but a necessary part of framing, there is so much hardware to install on a house it's insane...
