There is a guy at work who has the Mikita version of that little vac. He was wasting so much time with that thing one day. I was so close to handing him 70 dollars and saying its mine now and smashing it against the wall.

Sounds like a STEAL!!

For these it is a steal. They're pretty good quality, and the swivel action is nice. They're 3/8" drive but that's easily fixed by a 2 dollar 1/2"-to-3/8" adapter...gonna be pretty sweet running these on the Flexzilla compact impact.

Little dinky cordless vacs always make me giggle. I have a Ryobi 18v vac that's pretty useless except for tidying up the bench and whatnot. It's got decent suck to it but the reservoir is so small you can't vacuum long before you have to stop and dump it out and clean the filter. If it's a small pile of sawdust or something it's okay, but anything substantial and you can't use it.

One good thing about it though is when you dump a parts bin of tiny parts, you can vac it all up and don't have to get down on the floor and pick it all up by hand. I dropped a box of electrical connectors once and the vac was a wonder to pick it all up.

LOL

yeah the m12 vac is nice for a little bit of drywall dust or sawdust if i have cut a wall apart for plumbing items... but mine has sat idle ever since i got the m18 vac.. i think it's the combination of a huge increase in suction and that i like using a hose that

We were doing foam carving, you can imagine the mess that makes. There was enough on the ground to fill two large garbage pails and he had his little dust buster out.  You should have seen him when he got his multi tool, he tried cutting everything with it no matter how long it took. I must stop now and take some deep breaths...

Yup, the vac is typically clean so the only thing I suck up is the parts I dropped and whatever little bit of dust that might be in the area at the time. It really saves a ton of dicking around, especially with stuff that's that perfect size of being too small to grab easily with your fingers.

I have the M18 vac and love it. So much easier than dragging out the shop vac for small clean ups.

Word is the new teapot is quieter and a bit more powerful.. But it's not a wet vac. And the filters don't cross over from the toolbox vac

I have never used it as a wet vac, so that is a non issue for me. I would like to try the new one, but I can't see buying it till this one dies.

I also have two Ridgid shop vacs. The older one is about 12 years old.  The on / off switch broke about a year ago. I emailed Ridgid about it and they sent me a new switch free of charge. Talk about customer service.

Yeah, these vacs are not for that, haha. Hell a regular shop vac is too small for that. This is great for small dust, saw dust, and puppy hair pickup.

I've been taking the puppy to work and he's shedding in the back seat so I wanted something I could quickly clean up without dealing with a cord. This has plenty of suck for that! It actually holds quite a bit of stuff too.

I think the mufflers worth it, I've heard some stories of guys not noticing a difference but in a confined space it helps, reduces the air hose but also takes the vacuum a little bit with sanders

My new vac came with a muffler and I don't know why I didn't get one a long time ago. Sound reduction isn't all that significant, but eliminating the stream of air from the back blowing shit everywhere is beneficial enough for me

I had a few items I won from Bessey during their 12 days of Christmas giveaway on Facebook finally show up this morning.

BV-HW45 4.5" Bench Vise

bench_vise.png

I think this will be rather useful for some projects. I have to do something about the jaws since I will be using wood. Maybe make some wooden replacement jaws.

D15-SET Compact Aviation Snips

compact_snip_set_closed.pngcompact_snip_set_closed_2.pngcompact_snip_set_open.pngcompact_snip_set.png

Comes with Straight, Left, and Right compact snips. I'm not liking the pouch because the snips being compact means that only about an inch of the snip is visible out of the pocket. It looked fine until I took the snips of the card backs. I think they use the same pouch for the compact and normal size snips. It also has an extra pocket that's rather small I guess it's for a marker.

WMS-5 Welder's Magnetic Square (x2)

WMS-5_welders_magnetic_square.png

I guess I need to invest in a welder now. They're really nicely made. The 112lbs of pull is rather nice. They're not strong enough to crush your fingers between them but are strong enough that you don't have to worry about them moving around on you. I need to pickup a metal service cart/tool storage cart and my original idea was to stick these to the side but now I'm thinking the better solution is to keep them in their boxes in a drawer.

Yea I think most people think it muffles the motor sound but it's more about the air flow, now it reduces the sound of the air exiting the vac which in itself can be rather loud
